How to Read a Poem
Before we read "Crusoe in England," a poem inspired by Robinson Crusoe, take a moment to review this useful guide for how to read a poem from the University of Wisconsin Writing Center.
"Crusoe in England"
Robinson Crusoe inspired a number of other works. Later in the semester, we will be reading Pantomime, a play by Derek Walcott. To prepare for some of the themes of Robinson Crusoe, we will read "Crusoe in England," by Elizabeth Bishop. What does this poem make you think we will be seeing in Robinson Crusoe?
Robinson Crusoe
My preferred version of Robinson Crusoe is the Norton Critical edition that I asked you to buy, but this book is located elsewhere in other versions, like on Project Gutenberg. If you like to listen to your books, you can try the Librivox version.
